One of Joshua Tree National Park's most beloved elopement spots, Cap Rock is named for the distinctive cap-shaped monzogranite boulder balanced atop a cluster of rocks at the center. Flat, sandy terrain with dramatic rock formations and twisted Joshua trees creates a wild yet approachable backdrop — perfect for standing ceremonies with minimal hiking. Max 25 guests including vendors (ideal for up to ~15). NPS permit required: $120 non-refundable application fee (additional $200 location fee for 26+ guests); apply by emailing jotr_permit_office@nps.gov with NPS Form 10-930 Short Form; minimum 15 business days lead time, maximum 12 months in advance. Restrictions: no amplified sound or microphones, no release of rice/flower petals/bubbles, no balloons or decorations other than a freestanding arch, no drones, dried flowers prohibited (live or faux only), non-battery candles prohibited, no smoke bombs/sparklers/fireworks. Rumi is a dream to work with. We originally had a bigger wedding planned but because of covid we decided to cancel and elope instead. She created a timeline for us and made sure to communicate with all our vendors so everyone was on the same page! Perfection! Olly and Rumi are the most incredible planners and genuinely amazing people. They were with us every step of the way with our elopement planning process and on our wedding day. Not only did they answer any questions we had in a timely manner, but they also connected us with the perfect florist Brittany from Crimson Floral, and also translated how to ask for exactly the bouquet I wanted. Such a great app and amazing to be able to have everything for planning the big day in the palm of your hand! We had our ceremony at Hidden Valley. The wedy team handled the location permits, vendor coordination and put together a detailed day of timeline based on sunset times. It was a seamless day that I was sure was going to be stressful, but it was perfect, all thanks to Rumi and her team. Highly recommend the all inclusive package!
