WEDY: The Only Shark Tank Wedding App Company

Did you know that Wedy App was featured on Shark Tank? We’re the only wedding app company ever to be on the show. Find out why we were chosen, learn more about our episode, get some behind-the-scenes info, and discover what happened to Wedy after Shark Tank.

Anas and Rumaiza in Shark Tank

This is Rumaiza and Anas Ali, the founders of Wedy, as featured on the April 12th, 2024 episode of Shark Tank! From the moment we created Wedy, the world’s first booking platform for incredible wedding packages, we knew our app would be a great fit for this show.

Here is how it all happened:

  • Our wedding app rapidly grew across 11 epic destinations in 4 metro areas in the US. (700+ wedding professionals earned over $1.6M on the Wedy app)
  • A Shark Tank producer reached out to us via email.

We ignored them because we thought it was spam. (True story!)

They reached out again on Facebook.

We got on a call, mostly to confirm this was a real person.

Spoiler alert.

It was.

Our journey to get on Shark Tank introduced us to some of the most talented people we've ever met. The audition process is super competitive as they receive almost 20,000 applications a season, and only 88 companies air on TV.

How did Wedy host the world’s first Shark Tank wedding?

Wedy performed the world's first Shark Tank wedding with Kevin O’Leary as the Wedding Officiant.

Kevin O’Leary Officiant

Kevin O’Leary, aka Officiant Wonderful, is ordained in real life and can legally marry couples in the State of California. He came on board and ordained Hannah & Jon’s wedding ceremony on the sets of Shark Tank.

We had an incredible team of wedding professionals who helped us plan this beautiful wedding. We've tagged them below so you can reach out and book them for your own wedding day!

What happened to Wedy after Shark Tank?

Since Shark Tank, Wedy has grown and expanded! Wedy has helped over 700 wedding professionals earn more than $1.6M through the platform in 2023. The company is on pace to drive over $3M in direct consumer spending in 2024 across 11 epic destinations in 4 metropolitan areas in the US.

Investors

Wedy secured an investment from Techstars New York powered by J.P. Morgan, and the company has relocated to New York City to establish their headquarters, leveraging the robust consumer and wedding ecosystem.

Financials

On Shark Tank, Wedy had initially projected $1.2M in sales for 2023, but they closed the year strong with $1.4M in gross revenue.

What it was like on Shark Tank

Being on Shark Tank was incredible, and the entire production team was excited for the real wedding we were planning. Kevin O’Leary is ordained in real life in the State of California, so we were thrilled that he officiated a real life Wedy couple, Hannah & Jon, for their big day.

I (Rumaiza), was 3 months pregnant while we were filming, so we had our Baby Shark join us on this adventure as well! We filmed towards the end, and while there was some chaos, overall everything was so well organized.

Here’s a picture from a few months later when we received news of our Techstars investment from J.P. Morgan!
