Breckenridge Elopement

Sapphire Point Overlook is the most iconic elopement location in Breckenridge—a scenic mountain overlook perched above Dillon Reservoir at 9,500 feet with sweeping views of the water and the Ten Mile and Gore mountain ranges. A flat, open clearing ringed by pine trees frames a dramatic 14,000-foot peak backdrop. Maximum 30 people total including couple, guests, photographer, officiant, and vendors. White River National Forest permit required ($120–$142 depending on season, plus non-refundable Recreation.gov booking fee). Permits open exactly 6 months in advance at 8:00 AM Mountain Time on Recreation.gov and book within hours for summer dates—set a calendar alarm. Permits are 3-hour blocks only (6am–9am, 10am–1pm, 2pm–5pm, 6pm–9pm). Restrictions: no open flames, no food/beverages, no chairs/stakes/arches (must be free-standing), acoustic music only (inaudible beyond 150 feet), no flower petals/confetti. Access: 0.2-mile flat walk from paved parking lot (vehicles up to 20 feet only). Permit covers 2 dedicated parking spaces; shuttles permitted for loading/unloading. No wheelchair access. Vault toilets at parking area. West-facing—excellent for afternoon and sunset light. Late June through September for access; late September to early October for fall color.
