A rare mountain valley wetland ecosystem tucked into Pisgah National Forest's Davidson River watershed. The 5.2-mile loop trail winds through towering hardwoods, dense rhododendron tunnels, and rare mountain bogs. The lush, enchanted forest setting features the famous pink beds—a carpet of mountain laurel and rhododendron blooms in early summer. The flat terrain is unusually gentle for western NC and accommodates up to 75 guests, though 15 is recommended to protect the trail. No permit required for groups under 75. No structures, arches, or petal tosses allowed; all waste must be packed out. Ceremony spots are reachable within 0.5–1.5 miles of the trailhead.
