A secluded sandstone overlook perched along the Cumberland Trail above the Tennessee River Gorge. Bare rock ledge juts out above the treeline, offering dramatic views across forested ridgelines and the wide river below. Ideal for couples seeking true wilderness solitude and raw, unadorned beauty. Recommended for 8 guests or fewer — overlooks on the Cumberland Trail are not designed for large gatherings. Free ceremony permit required from Prentice Cooper State Forest (contact (423) 658-5551 at least 3 weeks in advance). No structures, chairs, arches, amplified music, confetti, or non-natural decorations permitted. Forest may close during managed deer and turkey hunts (fall and spring) and Tower Drive closure (Dec 20 – Mar 15).
