Thunder Hill Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway offers a stunning ceremony location at Milepost 290.4 near Blowing Rock, NC, with dramatic rolling mountain views. No hiking required — park at the overlook and walk across the road for unobstructed panoramic vistas of the Blue Ridge ridges. Ideal for ceremonies with guests of limited mobility. Max 25 guests including officiant, photographer, and all vendors (NPS permit limit). NPS permit required: $150 total ($75 application fee + $75 administrative fee, paid via pay.gov). Apply at BLRI_Permits@nps.gov with minimum 30 days notice (recommend 2-3 months for popular dates). Significant restrictions apply: no natural flowers (silk/paper only), no arches or props, no amplified music or speakers, no alcohol, no drones, no blocking the overlook, no flower petals/confetti/rice, and ceremony only (no reception).
