The Observatory is a lakefront lodge just outside of Telluride. It was constructed in the early 70's of local timber and stone, stained glass windows, a huge fireplace, ironwork, decks, and an ambience that is unlike any other. The Observatory got its nickname decades ago for the views at night - the stargazing is spectacular!
Nestled at 11,300 feet, at the end of a 5-mile mountain road, with views of Mt. Wilson (made famous as the Coors logo) out the back and from the front, you gaze upon Palmyra Peak which has an elevation of 13,319 feet, it is breathtaking from all sides. The alpine lake, mere steps from the front door, is semiprivate with two other homes in the area, and often reflects the mountains making it one of the most picturesque spots to memorialize your day.
