A serene alpine lake tucked just south of Lake Tahoe, surrounded by dense pine forest and towering Sierra peaks. Max 75 guests without special permit for non-commercial gatherings. With paid vendors (photographer, officiant), must use an authorized USFS wedding service provider. Permit required: $50–$3,500 range depending on event size (USFS variable fee, typically lower for elopements). Contact Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit at (530) 543-2600 at least 30 days in advance. Restrictions: amplified music not permitted without approval, campfires prohibited during fire season, no unauthorized commercial ceremonies. Rocky shoreline requires careful footwear; parking limited especially summer weekends. Very limited to no cell service — download offline maps. Road to Fallen Leaf Lake accessible via Fallen Leaf Road off Highway 89 (approximately 3 miles). Pit toilets available seasonally. Best seasons: June–October (road may be closed or difficult November–May); September–October recommended for fall foliage and fewer crowds.
